Pizza Hut HK unveils blind box pizza with Lee Kum Kee

Pizza Hut Hong Kong is celebrating its 45th anniversary by leaning into the city’s massive "blind box" craze, in partnership with heritage sauce brand Lee Kum Kee.

From 30 April to 27 May 2026, the "Blind Box Pizza" activation will offer four distinct flavors inspired by iconic Hong Kong cuisine. Customers ordering a large pizza will receive one of four varieties at random. Each order is delivered in specially designed opaque packaging to ensure the "thrill of the unknown" for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery guests.

Blending Pizza Hut’s signature crust with Lee Kum Kee’s sauces, this collaboration delivers bold and surprising flavour combinations—from the spicy and aromatic chicken pot, to the umami-rich shrimp paste, and the savoury satay chicken.

Reimagining beloved local tastes with a creative twist, the collaboration features four limited-time varieties. The Chicken Pot Pizza, inspired by the bold flavours of Hong Kong-style chicken pot, features Lee Kum Kee’s Sichuan style hot and spicy sauce and hot and spicy stir-fry sauce, delivering a layered explosion of heat, aroma and umami.

A rich and savoury indulgence, the Shrimp Paste Seafood is made with Lee Kum Kee’s signature Fine Shrimp Sauce which has an intense umami flavour that is enhanced by baking.

Packed with the irresistible flavours of Hong Kong-style satay skewers, the Satay Chicken Pizza features Lee Kum Kee’s rich and aromatic Satay Sauce paired with tender chicken thighs, pineapple and melted cheese - creating a multi-layered flavour experience that satay lovers will find hard to resist.

Featuring premium ingredients that are only revealed only upon unboxing, the Hidden Version adds an extra layer of anticipation to the experience.

To reinforce the partnership and drive foot traffic, customers purchasing a "Blind Box Pizza" at selected outlets will receive a complimentary, randomly assigned Lee Kum Kee product, available while stocks last.

The move comes as "blind box" marketing reached its peak in Hong Kong in recent years. Last year, major players such as Ocean Park and BOC Credit Card utilised similar mystery-led mechanics to bolster consumer engagement.

However, the trend’s ubiquity has also caught the eye of regulators. Algernon Yau Ying-wah, secretary for commerce and economic development, previously reiterated that current legislation remains adequate to curb unfair trading practices.

He noted that authorities, including the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department (C&ED), remain vigilant and will take "decisive enforcement actions" against traders who use mystery mechanics to deceive consumers, ensuring that the "blind box" trend remains a fair tool for engagement rather than a loophole for malpractice.
