Petron is giving hungry commuters a reason to hit the brakes

With Klang Valley motorists spending up to two hours on the road each day, Petron Malaysia is looking to make the daily commute a little more convenient with a new campaign that gives drivers an affordable reason to stop, refuel and recharge.

Dubbed "Petron’s pit stop", the campaign aims to address the everyday challenges faced by commuters, from skipping breakfast and delaying meals to making unplanned food purchases during long journeys.

The initiative is built around a simple proposition: motorists can use their regular refuelling stop as an opportunity to grab a quick and affordable meal before continuing their journey.

Running from 1 August to 30 September 2026, the campaign is available across 176 participating Petron stations in the Klang Valley. Motorists can purchase a RM4.90 combo consisting of one food item and one beverage at participating Treats stores.

The offer is available from 6am to 8am and 6pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday, targeting motorists during the morning and evening commuting periods.

The campaign forms part of Petron’s wider effort to position its service stations as more than just places to refuel vehicles, instead serving as convenient stops where motorists can also take a moment to recharge themselves.

By leveraging its existing network of stations and Treats convenience stores, Petron is looking to add value to an existing part of consumers’ daily routines, while reinforcing its role as a companion throughout their journeys.

The campaign also aligns with Petron’s "Pasti OK" promise, with the brand positioning the initiative as a practical way to make everyday travel more comfortable and rewarding.

"As a company that serves thousands of motorists daily, Petron understands the importance of making every journey more comfortable and convenient. Through 'Petron’s pit stop', we hope to be a trusted companion for customers by providing an affordable refreshment option whenever they stop by our stations. This initiative reflects our commitment to delivering a meaningful experience for motorists as part of our 'Pasti OK' promise," said Shaliza Mohd Sidek, head of retail business, Petron Malaysia.

The campaign has also received support from Hannah Yeoh, minister in the prime minister’s department in charge of federal territories, who said the initiative provides added convenience to motorists while contributing to efforts to improve the commuting experience in the Klang Valley.

"I welcome and commend 'Petron’s pit stop' campaign as a timely initiative that provides added convenience to motorists while supporting efforts to improve commuting experiences in the Klang Valley. Partnerships with private-sector players such as Petron demonstrate how businesses can play a meaningful role in supporting road users through practical and customer-focused initiatives," she said.

"Petron’s pit stop" is available until 30 September 2026 at participating Petron stations across the Klang Valley.

Petron's move comes as fuel and mobility brands look to expand their role beyond the traditional refuelling stop. Shell Malaysia, for instance, has used its forecourt and mobility presence as a platform for consumer engagement, most recently through a FOOH activation featuring Lewis Hamilton to promote Shell V-Power and its partnership with Scuderia Ferrari HP.

Meanwhile, mobility platform Setel has expanded beyond digital fuel payments into a broader ecosystem covering areas such as parking, retail and everyday transactions, reflecting a wider push within the category to build convenience into consumers' daily journeys.
