Oriental Watch and Hermia Wong explore the art of slowing down

Oriental Watch Company has joined forces with local contemporary artist Hermia Wong and curator Shirky Chan to launch “TAKE YOUR TIME × Hermia Wong – The palette of time at home,” a pop-up art exhibition celebrating creativity, colour, and artistic expression.

Since its founding in 1961, Oriental Watch Company has championed a deep dedication to horology, anchored by the belief that time is meant to be savoured. Beyond a tagline, "TAKE YOUR TIME" serves as a brand ethos and a contemporary lifestyle manifesto—inviting individuals to slow down in a fast-paced world and rediscover the present moment.

Over the years, the watch retailer has actively supported local arts and culture by partnering with Hong Kong creatives to translate the philosophy of time into artistic expressions.

Wong’s artwork draws inspiration from everyday environments and urban living, utilising rich colour palettes to capture fleeting moments across the bustling city. The featured series reflects scenes that shift with every blink and heartbeat—from neon-lit street corners and rattling trams to the glowing skyline over Victoria Harbour.

Through vivid, heightened hues, Wong renders not only what the eye sees, but what time chooses to preserve: a quiet pause amidst a rush of commuters. Colour becomes a personal lens, altering light and tone to let split seconds linger. The result is a subjective visual narrative that bridges movement and stillness, the city's steady pulse, and the quiet breath within a single frame—a reminder that time is not merely measured, but deeply felt.

Created exclusively for this exhibition, Wong’s flagship piece, “As time passed by,” draws inspiration from Hong Kong’s historic trams and iconic neon cityscape. It reflects her personal vision of "seizing the precious moments that touch the mind, ensuring memories and deep emotions remain alive in our hearts forever."

The exhibition is currently hosted at Oriental Watch Company’s ELEMENTS boutique, where visitors can experience the intersection of fine watchmaking, local art, and home comfort. On-site staff will also offer personalized watch consultation services to guide guests in finding timepieces that align with their personal style.

This partnership builds on Oriental Watch Company's ongoing cultural initiatives. Last year, the brand launched its "Take your time with the timekeepers" campaign to invite Hongkongers to explore the city's unique relationship with time. Developed alongside local creative agency Omelette Digital and video production studio 3JBK Production, the three-part video series highlighted local figures whose crafts embody the art of patience and precision.
