MR D.I.Y has released a heartwarming film for Deepavali titled "Petals of Memory".

The film starts with a young man named Raju who returns home in time for the Deepavali celebrations. He meets his father at their family flower shop and returns home to grandma sitting on a swing, with an orange flower in hand.

When Raju greets her, grandma mistakes him for 'Mohan'. Raju's father corrects grandma and she later passes Raju the orange flower, asking him "Do you remember this?"

The film later sees grandma continuously asking Raju if he remembers the flowers as he goes about his day.

As he's stretching, grandma places a yellow flower behind his ear. When Raju is fixing up decorations, grandma hands him a yellow flower instead of a pair of scissors and wrongly calls him 'Mohan' again.

Later on in the film, Raju is seen arguing with someone on the phone. Grandma appears behind him, calls him 'Mohan' and asks him "Do you remember this?" as she gives him a pink flower. In frustration, Raju accidentally pushes her away. Grandma falls onto a bench and the flower falls to the ground. She later looks at the flower longingly and calls Raju's name over and over again.

Raju sits in his guilt and confides with his father, who later reveals that flowers played a huge role in Raju's childhood as he was being raised by grandma. The flowers, according to Raju's father, represent grandma's many wishes for him.

In one scene, grandma is seen giving a young Raju a blue flower after he falls off a bicycle. In another scene, grandma is seen giving a young Raju a shower from a basin filled with water and flowers. "Even as her memory fades, she never forgets her love for you," said Raju's father.

On Deepavali, Raju is seen gifting grandma a bouquet of flowers. He hugs her and thanks her for reminding him. The film ends with the family gathering and hugging as the text which reads "Moments bloom and fade, but love lasts forever" comes on screen.

This heartwarming Deepavali brand film comes after the home improvement retailer releases its first-ever patriotic anthem to celebrate Merdeka and Malaysia Day.

The three-minute song, titled Bersama satu suara ('With one voice'), symbolises Malaysia's rich cultural tapestry and unity.

It was penned by winners of MR D.I.Y's Merdeka lyric competition, Tee Tian Chi, Daaris Amri, and Siti Madihah. The song was performed by the nation's favourite musical talents Alif Satar, Jaclyn Victor, Priscilla Abby and band The Locos.

The lyrics showcase the linguistic diversity of Malaysia, with performances in Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English.

The Bersama satu suara anthem is available for all Malaysians to enjoy and sing along to on MR D.I.Y.’s social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Xiaohongshu, and music streaming services such as Spotify, and Apple Music.

Accompanying the anthem is the brand's first-ever music video.
