Meta has appointed seasoned marketing and digital transformation leader Lau Sook Ping as its new country director for Malaysia, as the tech giant continues to deepen its engagement with local businesses, creators and partners.
Lau joins Meta from L’Oréal, where she spent over a decade in various leadership roles, most recently serving as chief digital and marketing officer for Malaysia and Singapore. During her tenure, she played a key role in driving digital acceleration, eCommerce growth and data-led marketing transformation across the beauty group’s portfolio.
Prior to L’Oréal, Lau was general manager for Malaysia and Singapore at Henkel, where she held full P&L responsibility for the Schwarzkopf Professional hair cosmetics business. She also previously served as country manager for Malaysia and Singapore for Prestige Beauty at Procter & Gamble, where she began her career in marketing and branding as an assistant marketing manager.

In her new role, Lau will lead Meta’s Malaysia team, oversee strategic partnerships with brands, agencies and creators, and drive greater adoption of Meta’s advertising and commerce solutions among Malaysian businesses.
Commenting on the appointment, Meta said Lau’s experience across digital transformation, e-commerce and the creator economy would be instrumental as the company continues to support Malaysia’s growing digital ecosystem. Sandhya Devanathan, vice president of Southeast Asia and India at Meta, said Lau brings a strong understanding of brands, consumers and the evolving digital landscape, alongside a commitment to talent development that aligns closely with Meta’s long-term ambitions in the market.
“Her deep expertise in digital transformation, e-commerce, and the creator economy will be invaluable as we continue to grow in Malaysia,” Devanathan said. “Sook Ping's understanding of brands, consumers and the evolving digital landscape, combined with her commitment to developing talent, will be instrumental as we continue to empower Malaysian businesses, partners and communities.”
Lau said Malaysia presents significant opportunities for digital growth, and she is looking forward to working closely with local partners to unlock value for businesses and communities. She added that her focus will be on driving sustainable growth, strengthening partnerships and contributing meaningfully to the local ecosystem. “Together with our team, I’m committed to driving growth for businesses, fostering strong partnerships and contributing positively to local communities,” Lau said.
Known for her data-driven approach to leadership, Lau has often described her philosophy as one centred on developing people to drive business growth. At Meta, she will be tasked with steering the company’s Malaysia strategy at a time when businesses are increasingly turning to digital platforms to reach customers, build communities and accelerate commerce.
Lau's appointment comes after Meta appointed its former country director for Malaysia, Nicole Tan, as its new country director for Singapore effective June 2025.
Tan takes over the role from Damian Kim, who was also the managing director at the company. As country director for Singapore, Tan has been focusing on driving digital empowerment and innovation across industries, harnessing the power of AI to unlock new opportunities for businesses, and supporting the growth of Singapore's thriving digital economy.
