The initiative aims to combine the charm of a classic McDonaldland character with the modern world of digital collectibles, providing fans with the unique opportunity to own a piece of McDonald's history.

"We're excited to bring Grimace closer to our fans through these unique digital collectibles," said Drina Chee, the senior director of marketing and digital customer experience at McDonald’s Singapore.

She added that Grimace holds a special place for many McDonald’s fans and that this initiative allows the company to evolve the character from nostalgic memories to love for all generations." The launch of these digital collectibles aligns with McDonald's Singapore's commitment to providing memorable experiences for its customers, a statement by McDonald’s said.

McDonald’s recently made waves with Millennials when it celebrated Grimace’s 52nd birthday with a brand-new video game. The game allowed users to immerse them in Grimace's world as he raced around classic McDonald's birthday scenes to find his friends, such as Birdie and Hamburglar, all in a quest to cut his birthday cake. The video game is a 2D retro style game with controls similar to that of a Game Boy Colour that can be played on a computer or mobile phone.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s also unveiled its plans to launch its new restaurant idea, called ‘CosMc’s’, named after McDonald’s' alien character. This was revealed in an analyst call during the company’s second-quarter financial results, McDonald’s’ President and CEO, Chris Kempczinski said that CosMc is a small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s but with a twist.

The company is reportedly planning to start testing the concept in a handful of locations next year, with more details set to be revealed at the end of the year, during the company’s investor day.
