Marugame Seimen debuts Japanese udon class in HK

Marugame Seimen has launched its first-ever udon class in Hong Kong, giving locals a chance to learn about the traditional craftsmanship and daily preparation behind authentic Japanese hand-kneaded noodles.
The initiative has generated immediate interest among local families with over 2,500 registrations and all initial seats selling out within a single day.
Designed for children aged 5 to 12 and their parents, the "Marugame little artisan noodle-making workshop" offers a hands-on introduction to the heritage of Sanuki udon. Participants take part in every stage of the process, working directly with the dough to knead, roll, cut, and cook their own noodles from scratch.
The interactive format turns culinary education into an accessible, tactile experience, allowing families to explore the techniques behind traditional Japanese noodle-making together.
The workshop is built around the Japanese concept of kando—an emotional connection sparked by fresh craftsmanship and shared discovery. Rather than offering a standard cooking demonstration, the program focuses on creating a collaborative space where parents and children can connect over a shared cultural activity and gain a deeper appreciation for the effort involved in food preparation.
Following the initial registration surge, Marugame Seimen is preparing to host its first cohort of young participants while planning future sessions. Further schedule updates and registration details will be made available through the brand’s official channels to accommodate ongoing interest.
The workshop's debut comes as parent company TamJai International (TJI) assumes full operational management of Marugame Seimen’s nine Hong Kong locations.
According to an official filing on the HKEX, TJI acquired the local operations from its controlling shareholder, Toridoll Holdings Corporation, for HK$4.1 million, alongside an agreement to repay an HK$8.4 million shareholder loan. The integration forms part of TJI’s broader multi-brand growth strategy to expand its market footprint across the city.
