Invictus Blue and Trapper Group join forces under JV agreement

Trapper Group and Invictus Blue have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to form a joint venture, marking a major collaboration between two of Malaysia’s independent media agencies.

The partnership aims to create what both companies describe as a new model for the industry, one designed to deliver integrated, platform-agnostic solutions for brands seeking greater agility, speed and customised go-to-market strategies.

Under the arrangement, both agency groups will continue operating independently, retaining their existing ownership structures, clients and partnerships with media owners and collaborators locally and globally. However, they will work together on areas where joint capabilities can drive “greater impact” for brands.

According to the companies, the joint venture is intended to combine deep local market expertise with a “strategically borderless” operating approach, enabling clients to access broader communications capabilities through a single ecosystem.

The alliance also reflects a growing trend of independent agencies seeking collaborative models to compete more effectively against larger networked holding companies, particularly as clients increasingly demand integrated solutions spanning communications, media, digital, branding and content.

Rather than consolidating operations outright, the venture positions itself as a flexible partnership model focused on scalability and measurable growth, while preserving the entrepreneurial independence of both groups.

The companies added that the collaboration is designed to raise industry standards and contribute towards a more sustainable and progressive future for the communications sector.

Earlier in February this year, Invictus Blue bolstered its creative leadership with three senior appointments for Alchemy79, its social and creative division.

Irene Kuan has been named general manager, Thang Wei Heng as executive creative director, and Chew Jia Ying as brand strategy director.

And in December last year, Trapper Group unveiled its new Content Innovation Arm, a strategic expansion under its social media business pillar, Sticky Rice. The initiative aims to meet growing client demand for high-volume, high-quality social content delivered at scale and cost-effectively, while complementing Sticky Rice’s existing creative capabilities.

The Content Innovation Arm is designed to provide adaptive, AI-assisted content frameworks that help brands navigate the fast-paced, always-on nature of social platforms.
