IKEA unfolds a new chapter in the Philippines with its first 'Plan & Order' shop

Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA has officially opened its second location in the Philippines at Trinoma Mall, Quezon City - a ‘Plan & Order’ shop designed for modern, space-conscious shoppers.
Unlike the sprawling IKEA Pasay branch, which holds the record as the largest IKEA store in the world, the Trinoma branch spans just around 400 square metres. Despite its compact footprint, customers can browse, plan, and order the full IKEA range available in Pasay - and pick up smaller items directly in-store.
“Pots, pans, dinnerware, glassware, home organisers. These are the most frequent products in the blue bags of our customers,” said Ricardo Pinheiro, country retail manager of IKEA Philippines, as quoted by ABS-CBN.

The new format store is positioned as a convenience-oriented design hub. A team of planning specialists assists customers in creating their ideal kitchens, wardrobes, and living spaces through free design appointments or self-service tools available in-store. The branch also operates as a fully cashless outlet, underscoring IKEA’s push for a seamless digital experience.
With the new opening, IKEA anticipates a strong uptick in customer traffic during the peak holiday season. “I think we’ll pass the million visitors during that period,” Pinheiro said, citing November to January as their busiest months.
Ayala Malls senior vice president and head of leasing and hospitality, Mariana Zobel de Ayala, lauded the collaboration, calling it a partnership that goes beyond retail. “It’s a shared commitment to uplifting everyday living,” she said.
Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte also attended the launch, highlighting the store’s role in driving local employment and investment. She expressed hope that IKEA would eventually establish a warehouse in Quezon City, adding that the local government would be ready to support the company when that happens.
While IKEA Philippines has yet to disclose the location of its next major outlet, the company confirmed that it is open to expanding both large-format stores and the ‘Plan & Order’ concept.
Through this new model, IKEA aims to blend accessibility with experience - enabling customers to design, order, and enjoy Swedish home living on their own terms.
