How FairPrice is driving Singapore's first retailer-supplier AV route

FairPrice Group (FPG) has started piloting Singapore’s first autonomous vehicle (AV) route between a retailer and a supplier, in partnership with Pokka. The roughly six-kilometer round trip runs between FPG’s distribution centre and Pokka’s Benoi warehouse.

The trial, which began on 25 February 2026, is part of FPG’s efforts to modernise its supply chain with technology, aiming to improve efficiency, strengthen resilience, and reduce environmental impact. If successful, similar AV routes could be rolled out with other suppliers across Singapore.

FPG became the first retailer in the country to gain Land Transport Authority approval in October 2025 for fully remote operation of AVs on public roads. Once the current route receives final clearance, goods from Pokka’s warehouse are expected to be transported entirely by AVs to FPG’s distribution centre.

Currently, seven AVs operate across FPG’s distribution network, completing over 100 trips a week and carrying up to 1.5 tonnes of goods per trip. Each AV reduces CO₂ emissions by an estimated 27 tonnes annually while also cutting man-hours for manual handling. The fleet is expected to expand to close to 30 AVs, alongside plans to grow FPG’s wider electric vehicle fleet to more than 160 EVs by 2030.

The initiative complements FPG’s broader sustainability push. In 2025, 15 key suppliers joined the Group’s Sustainability Chain Decarbonisation programme (SCDP), helping them set measurable decarbonisation targets and supporting a more sustainable supply chain.

“FPG’s supply chain is the foundation of our entire organisation, and fundamental in helping us keep daily essentials within reach for all in Singapore," said Vipul Chawla, group CEO, FairPrice Group.

He added, "This pilot represents an important next step on our journey to embed innovation beyond our business, across our value chain to drive greater operational and sustainability outcomes for ourselves and our partners.”

Building on its push to innovate across operations, FPG last month appointed Rajiv Singh as head of FPG ADvantage, the omnichannel retail media network’s newly created business unit.

Singh will lead the strategy and day-to-day operations of the platform, which connects brands with shoppers across FPG’s physical and digital ecosystem, and is designed to deliver enhanced shopper experiences alongside measurable brand outcomes.
