Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta has partnered with state-owned film production company Produksi Film Negara (PFN) to bring the iconic Indonesian character Si Unyil to the luxury hotel as part of its 64th anniversary celebrations, in a campaign designed to blend heritage storytelling with family-focused hospitality experiences.

Running from 11 July to 31 August, the activation centres on the theme "Si Unyil and friends' vacation to Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta", featuring characters from the long-running children's franchise, including Si Unyil, Usro, Ucrit, Meilani and Pak Ogah.

The campaign aims to connect multiple generations by combining nostalgia, Indonesian cultural heritage and experiential hospitality. It also marks Hotel Indonesia's anniversary on 5 August, with the main celebrations taking place on that date.

The collaboration extends across the hotel through interactive activities, themed dining and exclusive merchandise. Families can participate in a Holiday Passport stamp-hunting activity across the property, while limited-edition Si Unyil Flazz cards will also be available during August.

At Signatures Restaurant, guests can enjoy a themed Weekend Brunch featuring Rujak Bu Bariah alongside Indonesian desserts inspired by Si Unyil and his friends, including kue pukis. The experience also includes character meet-and-greets and children's colouring sessions, while Kempi Deli will offer a limited-edition selection of Si Unyil-themed desserts.

Beyond entertainment, the campaign also seeks to reinforce the hotel's historical significance, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about Hotel Indonesia's role as one of the country's earliest luxury hospitality landmarks.

Christo Putra Aris, production director of PFN, said the collaboration brings together two Indonesian icons with strong cultural and historical significance.

"Si Unyil was originally created to instill positive values such as togetherness, tolerance, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and a profound love for Indonesian culture, in children through an engaging format," Christo stated, adding that this is precisely the essence they are preserving and reintroducing to today's audience.

Petra Baumann, general manager of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, said the anniversary campaign is intended to celebrate the hotel's legacy while creating new experiences for families.

"As Hotel Indonesia celebrates its 64th anniversary, we want to invite our guests to immerse themselves in a nostalgic journey while creating new, meaningful memories with their families," said Baumann.

"Born from the vision of President Sukarno, this hotel is a historic Indonesian icon and a living museum that will always be an integral part of the nation's heritage. This partnership allows us to showcase that legacy, seamlessly surrounded by modern facilities and entertainment for families, bridging the past and the present beautifully."
