Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) have teamed up to launch Hong Kong Green Building Week 2023, an annual mega public campaign aimed at promoting green buildings through guided tours, green building workshops, online and offline interactive games.

In response to this year’s theme “Unite Green Building Powers, Fight for Carbon Neutrality by 2050”, the campaign will feature a series of public activities from 23 to 29 September 2023 revolving around four green building powers namely “Health and Well-being”, “Resource Efficiency”, “Environmental Friendliness” and “Innovative Elements”. The campaign aims to reach the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The series of activities includes a seven-day experiential event named “Green Building Game Tour”. It is led by four “Captains Green” who embrace a carbon-reducing lifestyle, including Jason Chan (pictured left), Cantopop singer; Leung Wing Mo (pictured second left), former assistant director of the Hong Kong Observatory; Natalie Chung (pictured second right), member of the Council for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development; and young KOL Bean Bean (pictured right).

According to the release, green building experts will lead public participants through Hong Kong’s green buildings, including AIRSIDE, West Kowloon Cultural District, San Wai Sewage Treatment Works and InnoCell at Hong Kong Science Park, to explore and appreciate the unique features and natural aesthetics of these green buildings.

Participants can also take part in workshops related to their chosen green buildings, including yoga sessions, gardening classes and STEAM workshops. These workshops aim to connect the public with green buildings, while inspiring the daily practice of green lifestyle with low carbon emission.

To engage with a wider audience, a “Green Building Power Station” will pop up in four places including Central Market, Cityplaza, Metroplaza and Langham Place, featuring a giant gashapon machine. Participants can join in a capsule game. By twisting and drawing a capsule, they may answer the question about green buildings and win a chance to receive an eco-friendly gift.

Furthermore, the “Green Building Power Social Game” will be held during the course of the event. Participants can follow and subscribe to Hong Kong Green Building Council's Facebook or Instagram page, such as the relevant game posts, and reply to the green building-related questions within the posts.

Participants will have the chance to receive exquisite eco-friendly gifts, including leisure backpacks made from recycled plastic bottles and recyclable materials, as well as over a hundred low-carbon themed prizes.
