Malaysia‑born Hong Kong actress Angie Cheong (張慧儀) has been appointed Perak state’s tourism ambassador and will roll out a vlog series unveiling the hidden wonders of the region.
Boasting a substantial fan base in Hong Kong, Cheong has dedicated a significant portion of her career to the city. After winning Miss Chinese Malaysia in 1992, she represented her country at the 1993 Miss Chinese International pageant. This exposure led to a contract with TVB, launching her on‑screen career.
According to her Xiaohongshu page on Tuesday (24 February), Cheong shared the certificate from the Perak State Government and Perak State Tourism Board confirming her appointment as a Perak tourism ambassador.
Raised in Malaysia, Cheong said she’s long believed the country’s beauty is full of subtle, lesser‑known charms — especially Perak, with its deep cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes. Those wonders deserve wider recognition and careful documentation, she added.

“Moving forward, I will carry this responsibility with me, continuing to delve deep through my lens, presenting to every one of you before the screen—the everyday life of Perak and the vast beauty across Malaysia,” said Cheong.
In the upcoming vlogs, Cheong will take the audience deep into the streets and hidden landscapes of Malaysia, unlocking the hidden wonders of Malaysia.
Cheong’s Xiaohongshu post has received more than 530 likes and 30 comments, MARKETING‑INTERACTIVE confirmed. A number of Malaysian netizens praised her appointment, saying they were proud to have Cheong represent the state; others welcomed the trend of Malaysia inviting celebrities — noting that Fan Bingbing was named Melaka’s tourism ambassador in 2024.
