Hang Seng Insurance is sponsoring the “Merry Balloon Hong Kong” winter carnival featuring cross-intellectual property (IP) characters, taking place at West Kowloon from 24 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.

Spanning both the Christmas and New Year holidays, the carnival is supported by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. By blending art, tourism, and entertainment, the balloon event will feature nearly 20 international and local IP characters in giant helium balloons. It aims to create an enchanting atmosphere and infuse a touch of festive magic and charm throughout Hong Kong.

The IP characters include Care Bears, CoComelon, Garfield, Hong Kong Machines, LuLu the Piggy, MR. MEN LITTLE MISS, M&M’s, MOLLY, Moomin, Ocean Park Panda Friends, PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig, Potato Head, SHO-CHAN, SpongeBob SquarePants, and The Little Prince.

Moreover, the IP-themed carnival will feature three major highlights: “Merry balloon parade,” a large-scale helium balloon parade featuring IP characters; “Merry balloon park,” a giant dreamlike inflatable wonderland; and “Merry-go-around town,” an AR balloon adventure and citywide stamp-collecting journey that delivers dreamy and festive surprises to Hong Kong residents and visitors from around the world.

The “Merry balloon parade” will headline the celebrations on 25 December 2025, at Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District. The parade will feature nearly 20 beloved global and local IP characters, magically transformed into giant floating balloons gliding along the harbourfront promenade from the Hong Kong Palace Museum to M+, inviting residents and visitors to join in the experience.

Meanwhile, “Merry-go-around town” will start on 24 November 2025, featuring Hong Kong's urban scenery and local art. Participants can join the free “AR balloon hunt” and buy the themed postcard set for the “city stamps collection.” By capturing AR photos of giant IP character balloons at designated hotspots, they can collect stamps for a chance to win exclusive character pins. The event includes 16 Hong Kong-themed postcards created with The Hong Kong Society of Illustrators. Hotspots include Central Market, ELEMENTS, Hang Seng Bank Headquarters, West Kowloon Cultural District, and Star Ferry Piers in Central, Wan Chai, and Tsim Sha Tsui.

At Great Lawn, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, the “Merry balloon park” will run from 6 December 2025, to 1 January 2026. The park will features two main areas: the “Giant bouncy zone,” with large inflatable attractions such as the "Inverted balloon world," a sevem-meter slide, and a 40-meter track, and the “Snap & play zone,” anchored by a seven-meter-tall inflatable Christmas tree and surrounded by a colorful maze and popular IP character installations for photo opportunities. The park offers “day and night sessions", allowing visitors to enjoy bouncing fun from morning until late.

“Merry Balloon Hong Kong” is going to launch a series of limited-edition premiums inspired by the IP character balloon designs, hoping everyone can bring this joyful memory home. Premiums will be available for pre-order on Klook starting from today, and can be picked up at the “Merry Balloon Hong Kong” pop-up store by 1 January 2026.

“In recent years, the cultural and IP wave has been sweeping the world, becoming central to cultural and tourism development in every city. We are seizing this trend by collaborating with nearly 20 popular international and local IP characters to bring a brand new large-scale event to Hong Kong, which is set to become Asia’s largest IP-themed carnival. The process has not been easy, with preparations taking over a year,” said the organiser MakeItLoud.
