Grey Group has appointed Janice Kok (pictured) as head of strategy for China. She will be reporting to Grey Group China CEO Sharlene Wu.
Within her new position, Kok will lead Grey Group China's recently established Centre of Intelligence, consisting of brand & digital planners, strategy consultants and data analysts. This effectively combines insights, data and creativity to deliver holistic planning and strategic capabilities to clients. Adding Kok to the China team will further strengthen the agency's strategy talent and drive clients' business growth in the digital arena.
Kok joins the agency from BBDO Singapore, where she was the strategy lead for Atome SEA and FedEx AMEA, overseeing brand and communication strategies.
Kok began her advertising career in Malaysia in 2003, joining agencies such as Egency.com, Paprika Global and Saatchi & Saatchi Arachnid. Besides client servicing, she worked on overall client strategy for Coca-Cola Malaysia & Singapore, Toyota Capital and Dutch lady, to name a few.
In 2012 she located to China to take on the role of digital planner at DraftFCB; this was followed by two years at Wunderman Shanghai as a senior digital planner, where she led the social and digital strategic direction for Land Rover and ECCO China.
In 2015, Kok joined BBDO Shanghai as planning director. Soon promoted to the group planning director, she was the strategic brand lead on the Mars Wrigley gums and mints and Mars Petcare businesses, working across their key brands.
Commenting on the appointment, Kok said: "I am excited to be part of Grey Group China and to be working with Wu again. I am optimistic that together we can drive the Grey team forward to deliver more insightful and famously effective work for our clients and their businesses."
Sharlene Wu said: "Kok has the sought-after experience across geographies and categories that will add another dimension to our famously effective work. In particular, her digital, social and content strategy knowledge and experience will positively impact our clients' business growth.
