Green SM expands beyond Jakarta with airport, Makassar and Bekasi launches

Green SM, the all-electric taxi service under GSM, is accelerating its push into Indonesia’s mobility sector with three major expansions: the launch of Green SM Airport at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the debut of Makassar’s first electric taxi fleet, and a strategic move into Bekasi.
Together, the launches mark a significant step in the company’s mission to mainstream sustainable transport across the archipelago while deepening its role in shaping the future of urban mobility.
“We are building a network of clean, sustainable, and connected mobility that supports communities, drives economic activity, and reduces environmental impact. Every ride is part of a larger effort to align transportation with sustainability and public well-being,” said Deny Tjia, managing director of Green SM Indonesia.

Driving sustainability at Indonesia’s busiest airport
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which serves tens of millions of travellers annually, is the stage for Green SM’s newest premium service: Green SM Airport. Developed in partnership with Taksi Diamond, the fleet of VinFast all-electric vehicles caters specifically to airport passengers with spacious interiors, quiet rides, and ample luggage capacity.
To celebrate the launch, passengers can enjoy discounts of up to IDR 50,000 per ride, equivalent to 15% off, during the promotional period. Bookings can be made via the Green SM app under “Green Airport” or “Green Now”, or directly at designated airport pick-up points.
“This partnership represents a joint effort toward transforming Indonesia's transportation landscape... It is about building a shared future where innovation and sustainability drive the growth of Indonesia's transport ecosystem,” said Daniel S. Palit, pesident director of Diamond Taxi.
Makassar: powering a Low Carbon City vision
Green SM is also extending its reach beyond Java, officially launching Makassar’s first all-electric taxi service. The debut reinforces the South Sulawesi capital’s ambition to become a Low Carbon City, while also bringing cleaner air and modern convenience to its 1.5 million residents.
The launch was attended by Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, along with senior transportation officials and representatives from the regional police and military. The service is built around Green SM’s “5 Good Promises”: Good Cars, Good Drivers, Good Price, Good Experience and Good for the Environment.
“Makassar's vision of becoming a Low Carbon City is both bold and inspiring. Green SM is proud to be part of this journey, not simply as a transportation provider but as a partner working hand in hand with the city, the government, and its people,” Tjia said.
To mark the launch, Green SM rolled out a series of promotions, including a 100% discount of up to IDR 50,000 on first rides, followed by a citywide 20% discount campaign.
Bekasi: connecting workers and commuters
Green SM has also made its entry into Bekasi, a major industrial hub and commuter city east of Jakarta. Known as Indonesia’s “city of workers”, Bekasi sees hundreds of thousands of trips daily to and from the capital. Green SM’s electric fleet, bookable via the company’s app, is positioned as an affordable, safe and eco-friendly alternative that complements existing public transport such as TransJakarta, LRT Jabodebek, and the Commuter Line.
The Bekasi expansion supports both national carbon reduction targets and the city’s smart city ambitions. Exclusive launch promotions worth up to IDR 150,000 are being offered to encourage residents to trial the service.
“Bekasi is a place full of energy and resilience, where industry, families, and commuters influence daily life. We see Green SM as a partner to that vibrant community, providing clean and modern transportation that seamlessly fits into busy routines while supporting Indonesia's climate goals. This launch demonstrates how the public and private sectors can collaborate to advance smart city development through practical, low-carbon solutions,” Tjia commented.
Since its debut in Jakarta in late 2024, Green SM has rapidly evolved into a key player in Indonesia’s shift toward low-emission transport. Its expansion to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Makassar, and Bekasi underscores both consumer demand for cleaner journeys and the strategic opportunity for brands to align with sustainability at scale.
With Surabaya next on the roadmap, Green SM is positioning itself as more than a taxi operator - it is actively reshaping mobility ecosystems in one of the world’s fastest-growing urban regions.
