FWD Insurance names new VP of group corporate comms and PR

FWD Insurance has appointed Katie Lee as its new vice president of group corporate communications and PR, who will lead the company's external communications efforts. Within her new role, Lee will report to Cathy Knezevic, group chief communications officer, FWD Insurance.

Lee joins FWD Group in Hong Kong with more than 20 years of experience in communications and PR. Before her new role, Lee had helmed the role of corporate affairs director at Alibaba Group for over five years. She had also served as head of communications at Uber and assistant general manager, international PR at Tencent respectively. 

At Tencent, Lee was tasked to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies for Tencent in Asia. She launched WeChat official blog for Tencent, established the global PR and marketing agency infrastructure to support the company’s international growth plan and provided strategic advice and consultations to senior business leaders in the company on PR matters.

Back in August, FWD Group introduced its “10 grants in 10 markets” charitable initiatives for local communities across 10 markets in Asia, including Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore, celebrating its  10th anniversary.

The community initiative provided grants in each of the 10 markets where FWD operates, supporting charitable programmes with a focus on financial inclusion. The FWD Group Community Care programme formed part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
