Funding Societies and LAC Malaysia pick new PR agency

Funding Societies Malaysia and LAC Malaysia, have both appointed W Communications Malaysia as their new PR agency, to provide integrated communications support ranging from strategic counsel and creative launch work to thought leadership, influencer and KOL (key opinion leader) engagement across both B2B and B2C briefs.

W Communications Malaysia is building early momentum with a string of new client wins across finance, health and wellness, and hospitality, following its entry into the market earlier this year.

The communications agency has also bagged a third mandate, from the hospitality sector, which they refrained from naming.

However, W Communications shared with A+M that all the accounts are a mix of year-long retainers and project launches spanning 3-6 months. All of which were won through competitive pitches.

Work on the new accounts began in the later part of the first quarter.

“These early wins are a strong signal that brands are looking for sharp counsel, pace and integrated delivery from teams that understand both the local market and the wider commercial picture,” said Robin Chang, general manager, APAC, W Communications Asia.

“What we are building in Malaysia is not just momentum for momentum’s sake. It is a business shaped around what clients need now: senior thinking, joined-up execution and ideas that can travel across earned, social and influence without losing their edge," he added.

The client additions build on W’s Malaysia launch in February 2026, part of its broader APAC growth strategy. Since then, the team has been working with brands looking to combine consumer relevance with corporate discipline, delivering integrated programmes that span brand-building, reputation management, launch support and creator-led amplification tailored to the Malaysian market.

“Malaysia moves fast, and brands feel that pressure every day,” said Kiersten Chaik, country manager, Malaysia, W Communications.

“These wins show there is demand for integrated communications that combine local instinct with clear strategy across earned, social and creators. That matters in a market like this, where attention is fragmented, expectations are high, and people can spot fluff from a mile away," she added.

Since launch, W Communications Malaysia has doubled its headcount and is projecting further growth of 60% to 80% by the fourth quarter of 2026 across its B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-consumer) and KOL management units.

The agency said it is focused on delivering senior counsel and day-to-day execution for brands seeking clear strategy, strong delivery and commercial impact.

W Communications, founded in 2009, is also present in markets such as London, Singapore, New York, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Iceland.

In other recent PR appointments coming out of Malaysia, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has renewed its PR partnership with Perspective Strategies following a pitch, extending the agency’s remit for another two years. The renewed agreement runs from 2026 to end-2027 and follows a formal pitch process held in October 2025.

Meanwhile, PUMA Group Malaysia has appointed Mad Hat Asia as its PR retainer agency, following a competitive pitch that concluded in January 2026, with a total of two rounds.

Additionally, Malaysian ice cream brand Inside Scoop has appointed GO Communications to lead public relations and communications for its latest campaign, “Rasa-rasa Malaysia” ('Taste Malaysia'). The travel-inspired campaign, launched in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, aims to celebrate local flavours through a series of limited-edition ice cream creations.
