Flip takes its savings message to the streets with Gank Mentri Ceria podcast

Indonesian fintech platform Flip has taken its latest savings-focused campaign on the road, partnering with celebrity collective Gank Mentri Ceria for a live podcast staged inside a truck travelling around Jakarta.
Titled "Teman hemat tiap hari" ("Your daily savings companion"), the activation brought together Luna Maya, Ayu Dewi, Melaney Ricardo, Edric Tjandra and Iwet Ramadhan to discuss everyday shopping habits and ways consumers can get more value from their spending.
The campaign positions saving not as giving up purchases, but as making more considered decisions - from buying only what is needed to timing purchases around deals and using cashback.

Flip is using its Flip Deals feature to connect the campaign's message with a specific shopping benefit. According to the company, users can receive cashback of up to 60% when shopping through participating marketplaces. Users access Flip Deals through the Flip app before completing their marketplace transaction, after which eligible cashback is credited to their account.
The campaign also highlights different approaches to finding value among the personalities. Tjandra said he tends to shop at particular times when he believes better deals are available, including when purchasing airline tickets, while Ramadhan prefers classic or seasonless products that retain their quality without necessarily carrying a higher price tag.
Ricardo, meanwhile, takes a more longevity-focused approach, opting not to replace items simply because they are no longer on trend. The group collectively framed smart spending as finding the best value rather than simply choosing the cheapest option. “For me, the principle of getting the biggest possible result with the smallest possible investment is still relevant today,” Ricardo said.
The campaign also uses the personalities' differing shopping baskets to make the message more relatable. Maya regularly buys vitamins and supplies for her dog, while Dewi is more likely to experiment with make-up and unusual products. Tjandra shops occasionally for equipment related to his content work, while Ramadhan focuses more on personal care products he uses regularly.
The moving podcast became a piece of social-first entertainment in its own right, with the truck's journey through Jakarta attracting reactions online. One Instagram user commented: “Peak Jakarta moment: stuck in traffic, sweltering heat, then being saved by seeing Luna Maya on a truck.”
By putting familiar celebrity personalities into an unconventional Jakarta setting, Flip is turning a functional financial benefit - cashback - into a more entertaining consumer story, while reinforcing its broader message that small changes in shopping behaviour can make everyday spending work harder.
