MARKETING-INTERACTIVE is delighted to unveil the official roster of finalists for the Agency of the Year and MARKies Awards 2023. As the stage is set for the 15th edition of the awards, the shortlist gleams with brilliant, forward-thinking, and influential campaigns, magnificently highlighting the prowess of Malaysia's top agencies.
Among the 76 categories across both competitions, numerous beloved and renowned ones have made a comeback this year, complemented by the addition of five fresh categories: ‘Best Agency-Client Partnership’ and ‘Best Agency Culture’ for the Agency of the Year Awards, and ‘Most Creative – Cause Marketing’, ‘Most Creative – World Cup Related Campaign’ and ‘Most Effective Use – Omnichannel’ for the MARKies Awards.
Just like in the previous edition, in the Agency of the Year Awards, the top 5 performing agencies will be selected as finalists for the prestigious Overall Agency of the Year title. Additionally, for the MARKies Awards, the most successful agencies across the two themes – Creative Ideas and Media Usage— will be awarded the Overall Creative Ideas MARKie and the Overall Media Usage MARKie titles respectively.
The ultimate winner will be determined by an impartial panel of judges comprising 30 experienced marketing professionals from Malaysia.
In regard to the entries judged, Callista Fernandez, associate marketing director, oral care, of Colgate Palmolive, noted that it was interesting to see some of the entries showcase creative and effective uses of generative AI or NFT in their campaigns.
Adding on, Kim Lim, managing director of Universal Music Malaysia said, "Definitely during challenging moments, of recovery from the pandemic, creative marketing becomes even more challenging reaching audiences online and offline."
"The execution plan also becomes challenging but all the submissions showed all agencies and brands have upped their game to the next level, by working on creative ideas that are authentic, high value and touch the audience in many ways. Many of the campaigns submitted seem to show a good, high growth in sales or engagement. This simply means our marketers and agencies are resilient in driving and delivering good results even during tough times,” Lim said.
Hafidz Ismail, head of marketing of PLUS Malaysia also added on by saying that this year, sustainability as a theme was becoming increasingly visible across the awards submission. "Not only is this a positive step forward for the industry, it also reflects the collective opportunity - and responsibility - for us as marketers and communicators to use our creative voices as a force for good,” he said.
The winners of the 15th Annual Agency of the Year and MARKies Awards will be announced at a live gala dinner and celebration on 28 July 2023 at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton KL.
