EssenceMediacom retains Uber APAC media account

EssenceMediacom has retained Uber's media account across Asia Pacific, extending a partnership that has spanned the region since 2017.

The account covers Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and will continue to be led from Australia by client managing partner Maddison Keogh.

The win comes several months after Uber appointed Ally Doubé as Asia Pacific marketing director as the company looks to its next phase of regional growth.

EssenceMediacom said the renewed partnership will continue to focus on combining strategic planning with WPP Open's AI and data capabilities to deliver media strategies across the region.

"We're incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Uber across APAC," Pippa Berlocher, CEO at EssenceMediacom Australia, said.

"Working together across such diverse and fast-moving markets has shaped a strong, trusted partnership. By bringing together data, technology, creativity and human ingenuity, and by consistently showing up for each other as a connected team, we're unlocking new opportunities to ignite what's next for Uber."

Lee Walsh, global head of media at Uber, said the agency's understanding of the business and regional expertise helped secure the account following the review. He said local market expertise and a vision for how data, technology and AI can help accelerate Uber's growth, was key.
