EssenceMediacom, GroupM’s newest media agency that combines Essence and MediaCom, has named Anthony Lau (pictured) as its new managing partner. Lau will report to Silas Ho, EssenceMediaCom's managing director.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Lau said he mainly works on new business development of the agency, and oversees the firm's strategic outputs as well as strengthening its data analytics offering.

According to his LinkedIn, Lau described himself as an integrated strategist with a hybrid of creative and media experience, specialising in client innovation, new business growth and talent development. His portfolio covers a wide range of categories from FMCG, beauty, retail to banking and luxury products. Prior to his new role, Lau joined MediaCom in 2019 as strategy director and was later promoted to head of strategy.

Before MediaCom, he was also the strategy director at OMD Hong Kong for nearly three years. He had also been the associate strategic director at Omnicom Media Group APAC.
