Double date delight: Tinder and TikTok swipe right on reality dating

Tinder and TikTok are teaming up to turn double dating into social-first reality TV.

The two platforms have announced a partnership that will see Tinder’s reality dating series Double Date Island premiere its first full season exclusively on TikTok during the European summer.

The series will feature pairs of best friends from the US, Brazil, Australia, the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany travelling to Portugal for a dating experience built around Tinder’s Double Date feature.

The feature allows two friends to pair up and match with other pairs, turning the usual Tinder experience into a more social, group-based dating format.

Double Date Island extends that idea into entertainment, with participants going on double dates, meeting other international pairs and taking part in a filmed dating experience designed for TikTok distribution.

The content will only be available to adults aged 18 and over on TikTok.

The partnership was unveiled at Cannes Lions and reflects a broader shift in how dating platforms are pushing beyond utility into culture, entertainment and social content.

Paolo Lorenzoni, vice president of marketing at Tinder, said the deal was a “shared statement” about how two social-first platforms can move culture forward.

“For us, this is a natural next step in bringing our communities more interactive entertainment.”
