DoorDash is expanding into 16 regional markets across four Australian states, extending its delivery network to more than 410,000 potential customers as it accelerates its growth beyond metropolitan centres.

The rollout, which begins on 12 October, covers communities across Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, bringing access to restaurant, grocery and convenience delivery services.

The expansion represents one of DoorDash's largest regional growth initiatives in Australia, with a further 16 markets scheduled to launch before the end of 2026.

In Western Australia, the new locations include Geraldton, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Albany and Karratha, while South Australian markets include Port Lincoln, Victor Harbor-Goolwa, Port Pirie and Port Augusta.

The Victorian rollout covers Echuca-Moama, Wangaratta, Sale, Bairnsdale, Horsham and Moe-Newborough, with Kingston, Blackmans Bay and Ulverstone included in Tasmania.

DoorDash expects the expansion to create approximately 266 new opportunities for delivery workers and bring around 50 additional merchants onto its platform across the new markets.

Simon Rossi, vice president, APAC at DoorDash, said the expansion was designed to support local businesses while providing more delivery options for regional consumers.

“This expansion is about supporting local communities by helping merchants grow, creating flexible earning opportunities for Dashers, and making everyday life a little easier for residents. We're proud to be investing in regional Australia and look forward to becoming part of these communities,” Rossi said.

The rollout comes as DoorDash continues to broaden its Australian offering beyond restaurant delivery, incorporating grocery and convenience services as it seeks to capture a larger share of everyday consumer spending.

The company also commissioned research examining the time Australians spend on unpaid household tasks, finding an average of 26 hours a week. According to the research, online delivery services could save consumers around 30 hours annually.

The latest expansion will take DoorDash into another 16 regional markets by the end of the year, further extending its reach across Australia.
