Deliveroo has launched ‘Deliveroo Hop’, a new rapid grocery delivery service, in Hong Kong in partnership with PARKnSHOP. According to the company, by expanding local on-demand grocery service with the launch of Deliveroo Hop, Deliveroo aims to offer better consumer experiences in areas such as greater stock accuracy, increased speed, and wider product range.

The new service is presented in five markets worldwide, including UK, Italy, France, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. The service will be run from a delivery-only site and will offer rapid grocery delivery in as little as 10 minutes, as a complementary offering to Deliveroo’s existing, fast-growing grocery service.

The first Hop store will open in Central, serving residents across Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan, Central, Mid-Levels and Admiralty. In June 2021, Deliveroo began working with PARKnSHOP, first cooperating with 50 of the superstore's locations. According to a press statement by Deliveroo, the partnership has since experienced "significant growth", adding 200 branches from which groceries and other essentials are delivered across the city.

As part of the launch marketing initiative, customers will receive a HK$100 discount on their first order with a minimum spend of HK$200. To show its support to the local community, Deliveroo will donate surplus food from the Hop store to Feeding Hong Kong as part of its "Full Life" campaign. The company has partnered with the NGO since June 2020 and raised over HK$2.2 million, delivering more than 440,000 meals to people in need.

Andrew Hui (pictured), general manager, Deliveroo Hong Kong, said the COVID-19 pandemic has caused an accelerated adoption of eCommerce grocery services among local consumers, with online shopping now "becoming an indispensable part of our everyday lives".

"On-demand grocery delivery has become one of our main focuses at Deliveroo. Our strategic partnership with PARKnSHOP further underlines Deliveroo’s intent to grow its grocery business by partnering with well-established brands in the market to improve customer experience. At Deliveroo, we also see our role in offering our partners a suite of services that enable them to meet more meal occasions and grow their businesses. We believe this new service will bring a range of new benefits to our grocery partners, helping them reach more consumers, increase customer choices and achieve business growth. We look forward to expanding our new service to more locations across Hong Kong with PARKnSHOP and will continue to invest in our on-demand grocery services," he said.

Norman Yum, managing director of PARKnSHOP Hong Kong, said, “We have had a strong partnership with Deliveroo since last year and are excited to be part of the launch of Deliveroo Hop, which provides us more flexibility as we work to make grocery shopping more convenient for our consumers. The rapid delivery grocery sector is growing, becoming a key factor when choosing which store to shop at for groceries among consumers. This partnership allows us to not only grow our customer base, but also to stay on top of quick commerce and make use of Deliveroo's expertise in grocery management and delivery to improve customer experience."
