DBS Bank Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong have joined forces to donate HK$1 million to Oasis – Centre for Personal Growth & Crisis Intervention, an initiative under the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, to enhance mental health support for the city’s healthcare workforce.
The contribution marks the 10th anniversary of the duo's bancassurance partnership, which has delivered comprehensive insurance and wealth management solutions to Hong Kong consumers over the past decade.
Over the past 10 years, DBS Hong Kong’s annual insurance sales through the bancassurance channel have achieved sustained growth, with annualised premium equivalent (APE) sales increasing by over 400% since the partnership's inception.
The HK$1 million donation to Oasis reflects both organisations' shared belief that a resilient healthcare workforce is essential to a healthy society. Established under the Hospital Authority’s Corporate Clinical Psychology Services, Oasis provides psychological wellness resources and mental health support to public hospital staff.
As part of the initiative, funding will go toward enhancing the "myOasis" mobile application, expanding digital mental health tools—such as mindfulness self-compassion guides and sleep hygiene resources—to provide round-the-clock psychological support for approximately 90,000 Hospital Authority employees.
The donation will help enhance “myOasis” mobile application, expanding digital mental health resources for Hospital Authority staff, including mindfulness self-compassion and sleep hygiene, said a spokesperson from DBS. "The initiative will strengthen round-the-clock psychological support for approximately 90,000 healthcare workers across public hospitals in Hong Kong, who are supporting and providing medical services to the seven million citizens in Hong Kong."
Sebastian Paredes, head of North Asia and CEO of DBS Hong Kong, said, “Our partnership with Manulife Hong Kong has been built on a shared commitment to putting customers first. Over the past decade, we have helped customers protect what matters most, plan for the future and pursue their long-term aspirations with greater confidence."
Paredes added, "As we celebrate this milestone, we are equally proud to extend our impact beyond financial services through our joint donation to support the mental wellbeing of Hong Kong’s healthcare workers. Their dedication to caring for our community deserves our collective support, and we hope this contribution will help strengthen their resilience and wellbeing for years to come."
Wilton Kee, CEO of Manulife Hong Kong and Macau, said, “As we celebrate 10 years of partnership with DBS Hong Kong, we are proud of the strong relationship and shared vision we have built together. By combining our respective strengths, we have delivered meaningful insurance and wealth solutions to help customers secure their financial futures. As we mark this important milestone, we are honoured to support an initiative that promotes the wellbeing of Hong Kong’s healthcare workforce. This donation reflects our commitment to creating lasting value for customers and society, while contributing to a healthier and more resilient community.”
Manulife Hong Kong has actively prioritised mental health and emotional wellbeing in its recent community initiatives. The brand recently partnered with local emotional education NGO JUST FEEL to promote emotional wellness through family education, featuring parent seminars, interactive workshops, and the city-wide "My Flag Day" campaign grounded in compassionate communication frameworks.
