Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza re-records 'Bukan cinta biasa' with a ZUS twist

Malaysians will likely be familiar with Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza’s emotional song, Bukan cinta biasa ('Not an ordinary love').
Originally released in 2003, the power ballad is one of her signature tracks. And now, ZUS Coffee is bringing it back with a new twist. Instead of singing “bukan cinta biasa”, she sings, “bukan kopi biasa” (‘not an ordinary coffee’).
The opening of the song sounds the same, but after two lines, Siti Nurhaliza makes the first ZUS reference, singing, “ZUS yang sering aku pilih, bukan kopi biasalah” ('I often choose ZUS, not ordinary coffee').
While it’s a humorous rendition, hearing the singer cover her own song, this time with a deeper, more soulful tone, is certainly a treat for Malaysian fans. One commenter said that even though it’s a song for ZUS Coffee, the songbird sang it like a winner of Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM), a Malaysian music award.

The music video opens with Siti Nurhaliza on set with a green screen background before the sandy landscape renders in layer by layer. The end of the video also shows behind-the-scenes footage of crew members assembling the set.
This artistic direction might be an intentional ploy to clarify that the set or Nurhaliza herself was not generated by AI – a comment that some consumers have made on ZUS Coffee’ Instagram post.
Alongside the music video release, ZUS Coffee also announced on Threads that it will be giving away tickets to the Malaysian songstress’ concert on 17 October. There are nine pairs of tickets for grabs, including Ultimate VIP passes.
The giveaway mechanics involves buying any ZUS COFFEE drink then posting a video using Bukan kopi biasa with the campaign hashtags on Threads.

ZUS Coffee had appointed Siti Nurhaliza as its brand ambassador in July this year, a week after teasing the announcement with a video of the singer's silhouette.
The reveal came in an Instagram post captioned "Pagi kopi, petang tea, ini hari Siti!" (‘Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon, this is Siti’s day!’), and fans quickly guessed the mystery ambassador, with some playing on the brand's "A necessity, not a luxury" tagline by calling the tie-up "NecesSITI".
As previously reported by A+M, the partnership brought a long-running joke full circle. In 2025, ZUS Coffee put up a billboard declaring "ZUS Coffee is Siti's favourite", with smaller text reading "Might not be the Siti you're thinking of", placed near a Siti Nurhaliza advertisement for healthcare brand Appeton. The brand has since leaned further into creator collaborations, original intellectual property and experiential activations, including a partnership with Thai character Butterbear and its "Drip & drop" campaign, while expanding into Thailand and Indonesia.
