Chocolate Finance taps Spider-Man craze in new AI-led campaign

Chocolate Finance has unveiled its latest campaign, "Spider-Daddy: Brand new day," positioning the financial brand as a human-centric and relatable choice for Hong Kong consumers.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a Chocolate Finance spokesperson said the initiative reflects the brand’s core philosophy: “Make life richer.” "For us, 'richer' is about the moments that feel lighter, more joyful and full of possibility. Making daily returns visible helps bring that idea to life, giving people a clearer sense of how their spare cash is performing."

Launched on 29 July, the campaign taps into trending pop-culture conversations spanning San Diego Comic-Con, the Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games (ACGHK), and the buzz surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Through cinematic storytelling, the short film captures a familiar family moment in a local toy store: a child spots a favourite toy, and a parent wants to say yes while staying mindful of everyday expenses. Using humor and a superhero-inspired father figure, the film anchors the brand's local "Happy Money" positioning under the tagline: 《閒錢幫你俾・升級唔使理》 ("Spare cash in play. Upgrades your way.").

The social-first campaign utilises a hybrid production model, combining live-action footage with AI creative tools to deliver cinematic visuals while keeping the local family dynamic grounded and real.

To help consumers visualise financial growth, the content incorporates illustrative return figures across specific timeframes alongside standard risk disclosures, avoiding technical jargon.

Targeted at digitally engaged Hong Kong adults, young professionals, and parents navigating family budgets, the rollout is anchored by short-form video content distributed across Chocolate Finance Hong Kong's social channels, including Instagram Reels, Facebook, Threads, and YouTube.

Shawn Lam, head of social growth and partnerships, Chocolate Finance, said: "'閒錢幫你俾・升級唔使理 | Spare cash in play. Upgrades your way'" takes everyday Hong Kong moments and tells them in a playful, cinematic way. Inspired by the small choices and little upgrades people recognise from daily life, each story brings a familiar experience to the screen in its own unexpected way."

"Spider-Daddy: Brand New Day is our first chapter: a superhero-inspired family story brought to life through a blend of live-action filming and AI-assisted creative production. It gives us a fresh way to express Chocolate Finance’s Happy Money philosophy—through stories that feel entertaining, relatable and distinctly local," he added.

Earlier this year, Chocolate Finance generated buzz ahead of its official Hong Kong launch with a striking street-level campaign—featuring a giant rolling coin moving through the city.

The activation introduced the brand’s "Happy money" philosophy: the belief that spare cash should be growing and easily accessible—not stagnant or locked away.
