Advertising and digital media company, Catcha Digital has appointed Shireen Chia Yin Ting as its new independent non-executive director. Her appointment will be effective from 31 May 2023.

Chia succeeds Patrick Grove, who was promoted to chairman in March this year.

Chia is currently the chief financial officer of MYAirline, a Malaysian startup airline while double hatting the role of independent non-executive director at Securemetric, a digital security solutions company, as stated in a release to the press.

Prior to MYAirline, Chia was the group chief financial officer for Tune Hotels group of companies, followed by general manager at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering.

The longest stint in Chia’s career was with Air Asia, where she held the roles of regional management accountant, regional director procurement and group head for in-flight catering over the span of 11 years.

In a statement to the press, Chia said, “I am honoured to be appointed as the independent non-executive director of Catcha Digital. I look forward to working with our dynamic team to drive Catcha Digital to new heights.”

“We are very excited to welcome Shireen to our Board. Her extensive experience across different industries will add tremendous value in our quest to bring the company to the next level," Grove, chairman of Catcha Digital said.

Amidst the recent leadership changes, Catcha Digital also completed the entire equity interest acquisition of iMedia Asia in a transaction valued at approximately RM43.92million in cash and shares. The acquisition followed Grove’ appointment as chairman.

Grove said that he has worked with the team behind iMedia for over 20 years and is confident that the integration of the vast reach and capabilities of iMedia will accelerate Catcha Digital to be at the forefront of the digital media arena in Malaysia and then Southeast Asia.

"The tremendous growth in profit over the last financial year shows that the team and strategy are executing the strategic plan exceptionally well”, he added.

This is also in line with the Group’s goals to become a major player across all segments of digital businesses. Catcha Digital aims to accelerate its growth through expanding its digital operations, strategic digital investments and value-adding M&A. Voon Tze Khay, co-founder and CEO of iMedia said that the team will continue to partner with and invest in synergistic digital businesses to strengthen its ecosystem of products and solutions.
