Bibit, Stockbit turn to art to frame resilience and reinvention in investing

At this year’s Art Jakarta Gardens 2026, Indonesian investment platforms Bibit.id and Stockbit are reframing financial literacy through an unexpected medium: contemporary art.

Appearing as lead partners at the fair, held from 5–10 May at Hutan Kota by Plataran, the two platforms unveiled Tentacles of Wealth, an installation by Bandung-born artist Mulyana (Mangmoel). The work builds on his earlier piece, Monster Gurita Sigarantang (The Mogus), a crocheted octopus inspired by the marine ecosystems of Alor in East Nusa Tenggara.

The installation serves as both a visual spectacle and a strategic brand narrative. Through intricate, hand-crafted modules assembled into a large-scale form, the work elevates crochet – often associated with domestic and feminine spaces – into a medium of artistic and conceptual weight. For Bibit and Stockbit, that transformation mirrors the discipline and patience required in long-term investing.

More pointedly, the octopus becomes a metaphor for portfolio strategy.

“Put simply, an octopus with many tentacles symbolises the importance of diversification in investing. At the same time, The Mogus – through its ability to regenerate lost tentacles – represents resilience, endurance, and conviction in investing. Especially amid today’s dynamic geopolitical conditions, loss is not the end of everything. When a tentacle is cut off, the octopus regrows it, becoming stronger, more sensitive, and extending its reach,” said William, head of PR and corporate communication at Bibit and Stockbit.

“Every investor will have faced setbacks and moments that fall short of expectations. But Stockbit and Bibit believe that true investors do not retreat – they regenerate. Wealth is not built only in good times; it is continually rebuilt from every loss, lesson, and ‘tentacle’ that grows back.”

The concept extends into what the brands describe as an “autopoiesis system” – a term borrowed from biology referring to self-generating systems. In this context, investment is framed as a regenerative process, where capital continuously evolves through reinvestment, even amid volatility.

Rather than positioning wealth as the result of singular wins, the narrative emphasises iteration: starting small, compounding over time, enduring cycles, and ultimately rebuilding stronger. It is a message that aligns closely with the realities of retail investors navigating uncertain macroeconomic and geopolitical conditions.

“Ultimately, we see both investing and art as being about effort, dedication, and consistency – demonstrating resilience across situations and conditions that do not always align with our expectations as investors,” William added.

By embedding themselves within cultural spaces, Bibit and Stockbit are moving beyond transactional positioning to build emotional resonance – particularly among younger, digitally native investors.
