Ashvin Anamalai (pictured), chief strategist of Be Strategic, has exited the boutique communications agency. Anamalai joined the company in 2017. During his six years at the company, Anamalai has worked with leading multinational brands locally and internationally. According to his LinkedIn, his strengths lie in utilizing strategy to manage and mitigate risks while capitalizing on interpersonal skills to develop and grow business relationships.

His position as Be Strategic’s chief strategist is a result of years of hard work and resilience in the marketing and communications industry that eventually bore fruit. A story “built on rejection”, as Anamalai explained to A+M in a prior interview, he had encountered his fair share of hurdles as a rookie in the industry. From being told that he was too naive and unskilled, to being thrown into the deep end in his first job, Anamalai’s initial encounter with the industry was “truly an awakening”. He had to adapt to the fast pace of the industry and learn how to problem-solve.

In the interview he also provided insight into his leadership style. "I’m also a firm believer in empowering people. It's important for me to always encourage the team to share their ideas and feedback. When employees feel empowered to make suggestions or share new ideas, the business, as a whole, benefits," he shared,

During his time at Be Strategic, the company was awarded the Boutique Agency of the Year aware at A+M’s Markies and Agency of the Year awards. Anamalai’s clientele ranged from Malaysia Rail Link (MRL), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to corporates such as Lazada Malaysia, Mah Sing, Spritzer, Gamuda Land, and UMW.

“When I joined Be Strategic, my goal was to build on the company’s incredible potential, raise its ambitions, and deliver growth for our clients through impactful, effective work. Since then, our progress is a testament to all the talented Strategists I have had the pleasure of working with and our amazing clients for whom I have the deepest gratitude and respect," said Anamalai. Anamalai expressed his gratitude for his time at Be Strategic and continued enthusiasm for the company’s future.

Prior to Be Strategic, Anamalai worked at FAL Food and Beverages for two years as the head of sales and marketing after his six-year stint at Ellipses Malaysia where he was the director of account management and business development.
