Aquviva recorded the biggest month-on-month increase in ad awareness among brands tracked by YouGov in Indonesia in August, followed by SariWangi and RedDoorz.

According to YouGov BrandIndex data, Aquviva’s ad awareness score rose seven percentage points from 20.4% in July to 27.4% in August. SariWangi followed with a 6.8-point increase, moving from 19.6% to 26.4%, while RedDoorz climbed 5.8 points from 14.5% to 20.3%.

The monthly ranking measures brands recording the largest increases in ad awareness, which YouGov defines as the percentage of consumers who have seen an advertisement for a brand in the past two weeks.

Acer ranked fourth, with ad awareness increasing 4.9 points from 10.6% to 15.5%. Kopi ABC followed with a 4.7-point rise to 25.4%, while Daihatsu increased 4.5 points to 22.9%.

Wuling recorded a 4.3-point increase to 25.5%, followed by Instagram, which rose four points to 38.5%. Royco increased 3.9 points to 43.7%, while Shopee rounded out the top 10 with a 3.7-point rise to 84.4%.

Shopee had the highest ad awareness score among the August top 10, ahead of Royco and Instagram, despite recording the smallest increase among the ranked brands.

The August results follow a varied set of advertisers leading the monthly ranking earlier in the year. In July, Molto recorded the largest increase, rising 7.2 points from 38% to 45.2%, followed by GoCar with a 6.7-point increase and GrabCar with a 5.8-point rise.

June saw Honda motorcycles record the largest increase, with ad awareness rising 10.3 points from 44.1% to 54.4%. OBH followed with a 9.6-point gain, while Levi’s recorded an 8.2-point increase.

In May, Lenovo and Philips jointly recorded the largest increase at 6.3 points, while Nescafé followed with a 6.1-point rise.

YouGov BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands daily. Its ad awareness measure is based on the question: “Which of the following consumer brands have you seen an advertisement for in the past two weeks?”

The rankings are based on changes in ad awareness, with a minimum base size of 300 respondents required to qualify. Where two brands record the same change, their current ad awareness scores are used as a secondary ranking metric.

Brands tracked across multiple sectors are ranked according to their highest-performing sector, while parent and child brands, such as Google and YouTube, are included separately for more granular performance tracking.
