Local telco HKT is undergoing a reshuffle among senior executives, as its CEO of loyalty, digital and analytics Alan Tsui steps down. While the company hasn't yet made an announcement, a check by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE saw that Tsui's bio has been removed from the management list.

In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a HKT spokesperson has confirmed that Tsui has decided to leave the company to pursue other personal goals and a successor will be named in due course. As one of the members of HKT’s senior executive leadership team and capital investment committee, Tsui reported to the group managing director during his three years at HKT, according to his LinkedIn.

He also had profit and loss responsibility of loyalty program and digital ventures including eCommerce, travel and insurance business lines. He was also in charge of data management and monetisation across business units such as broadband internet (Netvigator), wireless mobile (csl & 1O1O), Pay TV / OTT (Now TV), loyalty and digital ventures (The Club).

Tsui also described himself as a technical expert on developing large-scale customer engagement programmes that grow share of wallet and customer lifetime value, leveraging martech to integrate first, second or third-party data with digital channels.

Most recently, HKT partnered with communications company PCCW to enter The Sandbox to acquire a Hong Kong inspired virtual land in Mega city and join the metaverse. The collaboration also enables PCCW and HKT to explore new business opportunities, and the two companies promised to introduce more new-age financial and health technologies, plus eCommerce solutions, to build a fascinating virtual “metacommunity”, which will deliver an entirely new 5G-enabled entertainment experience.

Susanna Hui, acting group managing director of PCCW and group managing director of HKT, said: “PCCW and HKT are constantly making breakthroughs to remain at the global forefront of innovative technology applications. We are pleased to partner with The Sandbox to enter the metaverse and explore Web3, where we can seize the boundless opportunities manifesting in different aspects of our daily lives.”

Previously in June, HKT has partnered with property giants New World Development (NWD) to accelerate the digital transformation of NWD’s growing business ecosystem in Hong Kong and mainland China with the launch of their new campaign. The two parties have agreed to leverage the latest cloud-based technologies and create a “Workplace for Tomorrow” for seamless cross-border communication and collaboration.

Known as a digital solutions provider in Hong Kong, HKT possesses experience in fixed and mobile integration, system integration and managed services. The company has assisted numerous enterprises across different industries in Hong Kong and mainland China in accelerating their digital transformation, utilising emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), Software-defined WAN and cloud clouding.

This new hybrid work model, together with multi-cloud adoption and comprehensive HKT Enterprise Managed Services, will drive business growth and operational efficiency, supporting NWD’s fast expansion plans across mainland China, especially in the Greater Bay Area.
