Abbott picks new global marketing excellence lead

Global healthcare firm Abbott has appointed Varun Agarwal (pictured) as its new global marketing excellence lead. Agarwal has over 10 years of experience in health and fast-moving consumer goods.

He has worked across multiple geographies in Asia Pacific and India. According to his LinkedIn, Agarwal has a passion for insight-driven marketing and building scalable solutions.

"I’m happy to share that I’ve stepped into the role of global marketing excellence lead at Abbott. Thrilled to be part of Tiana Homsani’s team and collaborate with an incredible our Abbott Basel office," said Agarwal in a LinkedIn post.

"Looking forward to this new adventure," added Agarwal. 

Prior to becoming Abbott's global marketing excellence lead, Agarwal was its head of insights and global projects and its head of marketing for strategy and operations, based in Mumbai, India. 

Before joining Abbott, Agarwal was at Reckitt Singapore as its head of data and analytics for Southeast Asia and Japan. In the role, Agarwal focused on leading marketing effectiveness and media optimisation across traditional and digital channels. He worked across hygiene, nutrition and health brands. 

His previous roles included ASEAN insights manager at The Coca-Cola Company, senior manager of brand strategy, analytics and insights at Procter & Gamble, as well as senior consultant of analytics at tech services company To The New. 

Agarwal declined to comment when MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out. 

Agarwal is not the only new addition to Abbott. In May this year, Abbott Malaysia appointed Premnath Unnikrishnan as its new head of digital marketing and consumer connections.

Unnikrishnan has over 14 years of experience in digital marketing and eCommerce. Prior to his new appointment, Unnikrishnan was the chief marketing officer of KFC Malaysia.

During his stint at QSR Brands, he also served as head of MarTech, digital strategy and e-wallets head of digital projects. He first joined QSR Brands in 2020 as the head of digital, eCommerce and retention at Pizza Hut Malaysia. 

Before joining QSR Brands, he was head of digital at Havas Media Group Malaysia, head of digital marketing at Lyca Digital and digital regional head for MEC Interaction, Group M.
