100PLUS Malaysia goes with the flow in Gen Z push

100PLUS is encouraging young Malaysians to embrace individuality and define success on their own terms through "Ini flow aku" ('This is my flow'), a new campaign developed by Dentsu Malaysia that expands the brand's long-running "Thirst for more" platform.

The campaign marks the launch of two new 100PLUS Zero flavours, 'Go Grape' and 'Power Peach', while repositioning the isotonic drink around a broader definition of active living. Rather than focusing solely on sports and physical performance, "Ini flow aku" celebrates the passions, communities and everyday pursuits that shape how a new generation chooses to live.

Developed from the insight that younger Malay consumers increasingly define fulfilment according to their own pace, priorities and interests, the campaign positions 100PLUS as a companion for those embracing their own unique "flow".

To bring the idea to life, Dentsu Malaysia created an anthem music video inspired by the authentic moments young Malaysians share on TikTok. Real sound bites sourced from the platform were woven into the soundtrack, while user-generated footage was incorporated into an analogue-inspired visual style to capture the energy and creativity of everyday life.

According to the agency, the approach was designed to move beyond conventional portrayals of Gen Z by allowing real creators and communities to shape the campaign itself, rather than simply featuring influencers as brand ambassadors.

Leong Wai Yin, chief marketing officer at Fraser & Neave Holdings, said: "For decades, 100PLUS has fuelled the active lifestyles of Malaysians. But as culture evolves, so too does what it means to be active. Today, active is more than sports. It is found in the passions we pursue, the communities we build, and the everyday moments that inspire and drive us."

She added that Dentsu Malaysia helped the brand uncover this cultural shift and translate it into a creative platform that reflects the diversity of Malaysian youth.

Meanwhile, Ellison Fernandez, executive creative director at Dentsu Malaysia, said the campaign was designed to celebrate Gen Z as "diverse, expressive and impossible to define by a single interest, identity or ambition".

"So rather than commissioning influencers to simply broadcast 100PLUS' new narrative, we worked to make them become part of it. Real TikTok moments did not just inspire the campaign, they became the campaign," he said.

Running until 30 September, "Ini flow aku" will appear across digital, radio and social channels.

The campaign builds on 100PLUS' recent efforts to engage younger consumers through culture-led marketing. Earlier this year, the brand partnered with Malaysian fashion label SHALS and Dentsu Creative Malaysia to launch "Raya lebih fresh dengan 100PLUS" ('Raya is more fresh with 100PLUS'), a campaign that transformed the isotonic drink into a wearable experience through a limited-edition baju raya collection.

Rolled out across TikTok, social media, out-of-home, television and in-store activations, the campaign tapped Gen Z's affinity for fashion and self-expression while positioning hydration as an integral part of the festive season. By blending content, commerce and culture across TikTok, social media and experiential touchpoints, the campaign similarly sought to engage Gen Z through self-expression rather than traditional product-led messaging.
