McDonald’s Singapore has launched a vending machine that dispenses their new Yakiniku Burger ahead of the burger’s official launch in stores nationwide.

On 24 April, fans lined up to get their hands on a free beef or crispy chicken burger in a savoury yakiniku sauce, caramelized onions and shredded white cabbage at Plaza Singapura.

“It can be a hassle to prep and indulge in something delicious. But not this. For one day only, be the first to experience a Yakiniku burger that’ll give you all the flavour, with none of the fuss for free,” said McDonald’s Singapore in a post on Instagram.

To interact with the machine, customers press either the beef or crispy chicken button before a hand comes out of a window in the vending machine to hand them their order which adds a touch of humour to the campaign.

In tandem, a social media advertisement for the Yakiniku Burger was released that features a couple eating at a Japanese restaurant.

A bubble of the yakiniku sauce starts floating in their direction causing the couple to have their mouth agape in horror. However, a hand comes out from the side of the screen to push their cheeks into a smile while giving them the new burger in McDonald’s iconic brown paper bag.

McDonald's Singapore is constantly coming up with new ways to engage with their customers. In fact, the brand recently created a close friends list of influencers to announce the return of its well-loved McGriddles sandwiches. Close friend lists are a list of friends privy to only select things that users post on Instagram Stories.

Rumours began floating on social mediathat some had been added to McDonald's close friends list when influencer Darshen took to TikTok to share a screengrab of his addition.
