W Hotel Hong Kong marcomms director joins Lane Crawford

Rachel Kung has been appointed W Hotel Hong Kong's new marketing communications director. She will be replacing Stewart Chen, appointed in 2012, who is joining upscale retailer Lane Crawford.In her new role, Kung will be charged with creating strategic brand marketing programmes from tactical campaign to year-round plans to remain the brand buzz while keeping brand message consistency. She will also work closely with guest experiences team to understand customer behaviour, and to initiate CRM strategies to increase sales through as well as new customer acquisition.Kung has worked at Marriott International more than seven years, prior to her current role, she was assistant director of online marketing and distribution at Sheraton Grand Macao and The St. Regis Macao where she oversaw the digital team in the past two years.Originally from Taiwan, Chen spent more than five years with W Hotel Hong Kong and sat for the judging panel for Marketing's MARkies award in 2016.
