PayPal has appointed Hari Shankar as head of paid media.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Shankar will be part of the core team to drive the paid digital media acquisition strategy and marketing at Paypal across Asia Pacific Markets.
He will also be fostering the creation of an internal agency model to power the organisation’s overall customer base captivation goals. This would involve close collaboration with cross country stake holders to drive the overall objectives.
Shankar was promoted to general manager of Performics, a Publicis Groupe’s performance marketing solutions arm, in February this year. This was an expansion from his former role as director of Performics client services, headquartered in Singapore.
Prior to that, Shankar (pictured right) was also global media director for BLUE Interactive, now Possible Worldwide. He has held several stints in agencies such as Mindshare, MediaCom, MPG, Starcom Mediavest and Euro RSCG Singapore.
PayPal could not comment on the appointment at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, SingTel’s previous director of digital marketing Miguel Bernas also took on a role at PayPal in June this year. Bernas is now holding the title of director, digital marketing, APAC for PayPal.
