Pentahotels, the Rosewood Hotel Group-owned neighbourhood lifestyle hotel branch, has announced the appointment of Eugène Staal as president, effective November 2017. Based in Frankfurt in Germany, Staal will be overseeing the global operations and developments of the brand.
Prior to joining pentahotels, Staal founded rental apartment YawnWorld. He also founded MisterSteel, a consultancy as well as strategic technical services and branding support to hospitality clients.
Staal has over 25 years of experiences in corporate hospitality roles – from a corporate trainee at Grand Hyatt New York to senior management positions around the world, to eventually set up Hyatt’s EAME office in Lausanne. In 2006, Staal joined the executive team of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group in Brussels where he led the group as senior vice president, technical services.
“Throughout his career, Eugène has demonstrated a talent for entrepreneurial leadership, strong belief in a company’s culture as a brand, and active pioneer in having associates acting as entrepreneurs to represent of the brand ethos. This vision perfectly aligns with pentahotels’ culture, as we look to propel the brand and its new message ‘We don’t do normal’ around the globe, ” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group.
Staal joins the pentahotels brand as it prepares to grow over the next few years. Pentahotels’ second property in Hong Kong in Tuen Mun recently opened its doors in July, and the group is looking to launch one more in Russia in 2018 to meet demand for FIFA World Cup.
