During his tenure at MyCreative Ventures, Ishak also became a founding member of industry think-tank Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA). He was formerly general manager of Media Prima’s group finance department from 2009 to 2012.
Meanwhile, ad veteran Fan Chen Yip has joined Media Prima as head of key account management and media sales planning. He will be responsible for driving the group’s key sales strategies to ensure sustainable revenue growth, and will provide leadership and strategic direction for the group’s sales operations. He will also report to Khalid.

He started his career in advertising as trainee media planner in Bates (formerly known as Backer Spievogel Bates) in 1991, and was transferred to Zenith Media Services. In 2004, he became the business director at Universal McCann before pursuing his career with Carat Media Services as its general manager. Fan has been a council member at the Malaysian Media Specialist Association since 2016.
The group also appointed Alfian Talib as chief commercial officer of The New Straits Times Press (NSTP), effective 15 September. He joined the TM group in 2009 as assistant general manager of business strategy for SME, climbing up the ranks to become the GM for business strategy and channel program management. He has 20 years of experience in strategy, marketing planning and operational improvements primarily in the service and technology industries. Khalid said Ishak will bring a wealth of knowledge to lead MPTN while continuing to provide the best content to its audience.
“Ishak will continue MPTN’s digital transformation efforts in line with the group’s vision to become the leading digital-first content and commerce company,” Khalid said.
He added that both Fan and Talib possess the right experience in key industries which will be invaluable in helping Media Prima deliver media advertising solution to clients wishing to take advantage of the group’s integrated media platforms.
