MCMC and Media Prima Digital rally the digital community

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in collaboration with Media Prima Digital has invited all developers, designers, entrepreneurs and the creative community to D3, an upcoming event.This event will be held on the 23 and 24 of August 2014 at WakaLab, Media Prima Digital, Jalan Riong, Bangsar. Key partners include TIME dotCom Berhad and Microsoft Malaysia.D3 aims to gather the public to build digital applications and solutions to help enrich the physical world. The challenge is to build digital apps integrating real life in the categories of entertainment and lifestyle to create a “Connected Community”. Participants have the option to develop Windows, Android &iOS apps.For the first time ever, special focus is given to innovative solutions and applications for rural users under the Connected Community category.“Our aim is to bridge the digital gap between the rural and urban communities. We are looking for tech enthusiasts who would like to make an impact and ‘give back’ to the community by building apps that enhance the lives of people in rural communities.  We will pick the most inspirational ideas, turn them into working solutions and implement them in our community broadband project,” Mohd Ali Hanafiah, chief officer, Industry Development MCMC said.For the entertainment & lifestyle category, the event is looking for innovative apps that would make an impact in the realm of digital media & entertainment industry.“We are constantly crowdsourcing for fresh and ground-breaking ideas. Creativity and tech skills can be combined to create a new experience in media. This is an excellent opportunity for participants to be part of the young and fast growing dimension of the media industry. Your ideas might just be picked to be integrated into our content,” Lam Swee Kim, Group General Manager, Media Prima Digital said.Participants will stand a chance to take home prizes worth more than RM60,000, which includes bursaries from MCMC.  Additionally, D3 participants will be given opportunities to collaborate with MCMC & Media Prima Digital on their current and future projects.
