F1 Fever Continues, Magnaglobal Hires

Racing fever continues

Following SingTel’s “F1 for Everyone” campaign, Iris Singapore is launching the second leg of the 2012 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix campaign. As part of the campaign it is asking the members of the public to participate in the electric go-kart race on 21 and 22 July from 10am to 10pm at Jurong Central Park. The Grand Prix in Germany will also be screened live at the road show. The search for the next SingTel Grid Girl will also be happening at the carnival.

Magnaglobal hires industry veteran

Magnaglobal, the media negotiation unit of IPG Mediabrands, has appointed Gurpreet Singh as head of trading and accountability to drive buying performance of current and potential clients across the Asia Pacific region. Singh will report to Chris Williams, president, investment, Magnaglobal. He has more than 16 years of experience in strategic media planning, media buying and productivity management across various advertising and media agencies in India and Malaysia. Prior to his new role, Singh held a range of positions at Mediabrands Malaysia, the most recent being general manager.

Oom gets new lead

Search marketing solutions agency Oom has appointed Brad Helmy Harris to the newly-created position of general manager. Harris brings with him extensive experience having worked at companies like Media Entertainment Group, dmg and most recently Clozette. He will be in charge of driving business growth both locally and regionally and report to co-founder and managing director, Ian Cheow. Also, previous Oom director Wayne Eo, has decided leave the company to set up his own agency.

Channel NewsAsia hires new chief editor

Channel NewsAsia has appointed Lian Pek, as chief editor fresh off of the heels of its announcement to extend its programming hours and broadcast live 24 hours a day from January 2013. In her new role, Pek will set the editorial direction and oversees production of English news for Channel NewsAsia and MediaCorp Channel 5. Pek has held leading editorial and anchor positions at international news organizations such as CNN International, Bloomberg Financial News and Al Jazeera English.
