A three-man student team from the University of the Philippines will be flying to Paris this June to compete in the international finals of 2014 L’Oreal Brandstorm Challenge.Team BMW, composed of Benjie Baladad, MJ de Leon, Wacky Narciso and team mentor Luis Diego Lee, will be pitted against 45 teams to develop marketing strategies for Kiehl’s, a men’s skin and hair care brand acquired by L’Oreal in 2000.Now on its 22nd year, the French beauty brand has been placing students across the globe inside the shoes of marketing execs for its key brands since 1992. It was launched in the country in 2009.It is widely advertised as the ultimate global student marketing competition in the beauty industry considering the prize for the winners - 10,000 Euros in cash and a trip around world. It can also be undoubtedly called the toughest based on the rigor of the contest.https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6pPIeAdSJigStudent teams from 350 schools globally need to win the campus finals by presenting a market analysis of Kiehl’s and come up with innovative in-store & online activities that would attract males.Crowned as campus finalists, they will then work on a more complete marketing plan for Kiehl’s,Which involves the development a new product range for its men’s collection and the implementation of an international multi-channel strategy to expand its market share. The best of the national finalists get to present in front of a panel of judges made up of top L’Oreal executives in the international leg of the competition. This works two ways – bragging rights for the students and higher chances for them to land an amazing job after college and also a chance for L’Oreal to add fresh and tested talent to its roster.
