Integrated communications specialist Cognito has named Darrell Wright (pictured) its regional MD for Asia Pacific, effective 11 December 2017. He replaces Tim Williamson, who recently joined WATATAWA Consulting as MD, and reports to Tom Coombes, CEO for Cognito.
Wright will be supported by the current management team for Asia, which includes associate directors Prisita Menon and Charlie Morrow and marketing and social strategist Lincoln Mah.
In his new role, Wright is responsible for deepening relationships with Cognito’s current client base, while aggressively adding more clients from financial institutions, technology and professional services. He will also assess opportunities to expand the business into new Asia Pacific markets. Also, Wright will work to enhance the range of services currently offered to clients in Asia, building on Cognito’s established strengths in social media, content, digital marketing and stakeholder communications.
Wright has over 15 years of experience in communications, including a decade spent in-house in Asia at financial institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Barclays and The Royal Bank of Scotland. He also has experience of doing business in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
“We are looking forward to beginning a new phase of growth for Cognito in Asia Pacific under Wright’s leadership. His knowledge and experience are a fantastic fit for our business, our clients and our geographic footprint. In the last five years, we have established a critical mass in Asia, with local and international clients across asset management, banking, fintech and professional services. We are confident that he will replicate the success that he has enjoyed throughout his career and drive Cognito’s business to new heights,” Coombes said.
“Williamson has done an excellent job for Cognito and we wish him well and thank him for his hard work during his time at the firm,” Coombes added.
