The great popularity of the BEA App in recent years reflects not only the widespread need for mobile banking services but also the user-friendly interface and continual development of this award-winning application. BEA is determined to ensure that emerging FinTech tools reach the customer as soon as possible.
The bank has recently launched an entirely new level of mobile banking services in Hong Kong with a fresh revamp of the BEA App. In tandem with a range of other BEA tools, the intelligent new version of the app utilises big data analysis of customer footprints and user behaviour to provide tailored suggestions and services. The app’s new design follows the latest global trends in order to enhance the user experience, and customers with BEA’s premium SupremeGold account have a choice of colour scheme for the new interface: classic red or prestige black/gold.
The app’s standout new feature, the i-Planner, is the first virtual hub of its kind in Hong Kong. Seamlessly integrating customers’ day-to-day living with various kinds of financial transactions, the i-Planner also has the capacity to provide customers with dining recommendations and shopping offers. It is closely tied to social networks – customers can sign in using their Facebook account and will soon be able to take advantage of a generous referral programme to invite their friends and contacts.
The i-Planner’s first theme is an advanced travel feature offering an entirely new level of control for planning holidays abroad. This travel tool recognises credit card payments made to airlines, hotels and other travel sites, and automatically invites the customer to map out the finances for their upcoming trip. By entering a few quick details, customers can set a schedule and a budget, itemising their trip with unprecedented accuracy and can view all expenses in a straightforward pie chart.
Big data analysis of user behaviour allows the i-Planner to provide personalised offers on flight tickets, hotels, travel insurance, and more. For example, customers can get suggestions from the i-Planner on the best restaurants, hotels, and other attractions based on the venues most popular among BEA credit card users. Users also have the option of making travel arrangements directly through the travel tool, such as booking limousines or travel insurance. When travelling with friends, customers can use a “split costs” function, to divide expenses exactly. The app even enables customers to send a payment request to fellow travellers directly, or make an instant transfer if they want to settle a shortfall.
Over the coming months, the i-Planner will introduce a range of similar lifestyle themes catering to customers’ various life stages, including investment, mortgages, retirement, planning for children’s future, and more.
And that’s not all. In addition to the i-Planner function, the updated BEA App offers a range of added features and services related to credit cards, investment, and currency exchange. The new i-Spend feature gives customers an overview of their finances and allows them to make direct payments (including partial payments). i-Spend is also linked to the BEA App’s Bonus Gallery, where customers can choose from a wide selection of products using Bonus Points and/or credit card payments.
In addition, a Risk Assessment Questionnaire is available for the first time through the BEA App, giving investors a convenient insight into their risk profile for investment or insurance purposes. The revamp also sees the launch of a new currency exchange feature, where customers can buy or sell foreign currencies with the greatest ease and efficiency.
These features give new depth to the BEA App’s wide array of existing and recently-added services. In 2015, BEA became the first bank in Hong Kong to launch an authorised person-to-person mobile payment system, i-P2P, allowing customers to send payments straight to any mobile number on their phone’s contacts list.
Soon after the establishment of this user-friendly platform, customers were presented with the opportunity to send cash presents to friends and family at Chinese New Year (i-Laisee) and on other special occasions (i-Wishes). The i-Laisee and i-Wishes features provide customers with a selection of tasteful e-cards to send together with a cash amount in order to convey a message of affection to loved ones. As of last year, customers can also activate credit cards, view their e-statements, and buy products straight through the app.
The app’s latest rejuvenation is part of the bank’s overarching digital strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience at every touchpoint. By mid-2018, the BEA App will contain a complete range of enhanced features and all-new services, giving customers a banking freedom never before experienced.
