Another senior level exit at JWT Singapore as CEO Peter Womersley resigns

J. Walter Thompson Singapore’s Peter Womersley has departed from the agency. JWT confirmed the movement to Marketing.

According to an internal memo seen by Marketing, newly appointed Southeast Asia CEO Jacco ter Schegget will take on Womersley’s responsibilities for the Singapore market. This is in additional to his remit with Mirum. He will also be based in Singapore and start his role in September.

Womersley first took on the role in 2015, replacing Frank Bauer, who went on to support the agency’s global growth team.

Womersley (pictured), whose career with the agency spans 14 years in both London and New York, is a seasoned JWT veteran. He joined the Singapore office from JWT London, where he held the roles of global business director for Shell Lubricants; global business director for Hilti, which provides products, systems and services to the global construction industry; and global business director for HSBC Global Standards.

He also served as WPP Team Army Director, managing WPP’s provision of all marketing requirements for the British Army.

The move also follows the recent departure of Nanda Ivens, APAC Mirum CEO, and news of Southeast Asia and Bangkok CEO Bob Hekkelman, who now focuses on his role as CEO of the JWT Group Bangkok.

Schegget was most recently as OgilvyOne China’s president, where he oversaw both OgilvyOne and Neo operations. He has over 16 years’ experience in digital marketing and transformation and joined OgilvyOne China as president in 2014 and was part of the Ogilvy Group China Leadership team.  Prior to that role, he served as Europe president of Tribal Worldwide and co-CEO of DDB and Tribal Amsterdam.

Going forward, Schegget and the managing directors of Mirum in North Asia will report directly to John Gutteridge, JWT’s Asia Pacific CEO.
