Adidas to add 3,000 new stores in China

German sportswear maker Adidas has announced its plan to open 3,000 new stores in China by 2020.Colin Currie, Adidas China head, said at a briefing in Shanghai on last Friday that the brand will expand its current network from 9,000 stores to 12,000 across 2,200 cities in China, zeroing in on China’s smallest cities."With interest in sport in China continuing to gather pace, our newly unveiled 'Creating the New 2020 Greater China' strategy will further build upon our recent achievements and lead Adidas to become China's best sports brand by 2020," said Currie.Currie added that the company will also focus more on kids' sports apparel amid the relaxation of the one-child policy.Adidas recorded an 18% growth in sales in China last year to 2.5 billion euros, driven by the so-called performance and style products, according to its annual report.
