Yahoo to debut Hong Kong news app on Apple Watch

Yahoo Hong Kong will roll out the Yahoo News Hong Kong app on the Apple Watch when it launches on 24 April.Three other Yahoo apps including Yahoo Weather, Yahoo Sports Fantasy and Yahoo News Digest will also be available on the watch. These apps were reimagined and simplified for the watch, allowing Yahoo to deliver a personal experience in a new way.“With the Yahoo News Hong Kong app being one of the first applications on Apple Watch, users in Hong Kong will receive breaking news delivered to their wrist and enjoy timely local updates," said Lorraine Cheung, director of media group, Yahoo Hong Kong.Users can scan through the top 10 headlines of the hour, selected by Yahoo News Hong Kong editors, then tap to open the story and read the first few lines about it. If readers want the full article, it can be viewed on a phone or another device.Yahoo Weather App on Apple Watch will feature morning updates and evening forecasts through notifications. At a quick glance, users can find out if it’s a t-shirt or sweater day with Yahoo’s new “feels like” feature, or learn more about the conditions outside by tapping into the App.With the Yahoo Sports Fantasy App, users can see what’s going on in their matchups or check on their lineup for injuries with just a glance. They can even talk smack with their league using the Apple Watch dictation feature.“We’re always looking at how users will engage with new form factors, and we’ve taken the wrist computer as an opportunity to rethink our product experiences.
