XM Asia buys majority share in Designercity

XM Asia Pacific has acquired a majority stake in Hong Kong digital consultancy Designercity for an undisclosed sum.Designercity, an agency of 108 digital specialists, will join the XM Asia network but will retail the Designercity name.The agency, founded in London in 1995 by Win Mak, who moved operations to Hong Kong in 2000, counts Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Arsenal FC, Dairy Farm Group, The Peninsula, Swire Hotels and Hong Kong International Airport among its top clients.Designercity has also been named Marketing magazine's "Digital Agency of the Year - Local Hero" in 2011 and "Digital Agency of the Year - Bronze" in 2013.The deal is XM's third acquisition in 18 months and extends its reach into North Asia.Mak, who will stay on as Designercity's managing director, said he was delighted to be joining XM Asia, and the WPP family."This is part of our ongoing commitment to create a world connected by digital," he said.He added that it was encouraging to see XM realise the benefits of 'Connected Experiences' and building integrated digital solutions seamlessly connect across different devices from online to mobile to kiosks."It's hugely exciting that our technology innovation has been identified as an important element in XM's future plans.""Designercity is a powerhouse in Hong Kong, and Win is highly respected in the industry.
