WeChat Pay arrives Hong Kong

WeChat Pay has launched its latest feature WeChat Wallet in Hong Kong.The in-app payment service in Hong Kong presently supports payments for tickets, transportation services and travel products.Hong Kong users need to link their WeChat Pay accounts to MasterCard or Visa credit cards in order to make purchases without having to exit the WeChat app.Here's what you need to do:[gallery link="file" ids="124367,124362,124363,124364,124365,124366"]Users can also benefit from a list of partnerships with local merchants that provide exclusive promotions and campaigns, including discounted tickets of local theme park and sightseeing spots.Participating merchants so far includes Hong Kong Jockey Club, China Travel Service, Melco and Klook Travel, to name a few.A spokesperson from WeChat told Marketing that the search for new merchants and payment partners is still on-going."We are still working with different merchants to offer various options to users across different product categories."Norman Tam, head of Hong Kong and Taiwan Office, International Business Group, Tencent, describes the Wallet feature as a triple-win to Hong Kong.“Customised for Hong Kong users, WeChat Pay provides a seamless and secure payment experience to users while providing our partners with the benefit of a direct connection to WeChat’s massive community that other payment platforms cannot provide," he said.According to Tencent's earning 2015 as of November, combined monthly users of Weixin and WeChat reached 650 million, an increase of 39% year-on-year.
